Ever thought about leaving it all behind and moving overseas? Stewart Patton is a former BigLaw Partner who did just that! After climbing his way up the ladder to partnership, one cold winter morning, he heard the same little voice you may have heard: "There must be more to life than going to work while it’s cold and dark and the kids are in bed, only to return home when it’s cold and dark and the kids are in bed." So, he told his firm about the new life he and his family had chosen,  packed up the house, and continued practicing US tax law as a solo practitioner in Belize. Now he specializes in helping expats and digital nomads optimize their tax strategies. On this episode we chat about how he made the transition, what life is like after BigLaw and the piece of advice he got as a 2L that he wished he had followed that would have better prepared him for the transition.

What you’ll learn:

  • How Stewart decided to leave BigLaw and move his family of four to Belize
  • Why you need to make the leap before the plane is built
  • What Stewart did to prepare himself financially for the move
  • The importance of establishing an online presence and finding your niche
  • How meditating has changed his life
